Phasing and Progression

The Museum Board decided to build the museum in two phases. The first phase provides current and future donors and the Carolina Marine community with a powerful symbol of intent. This phase creates a beautiful and symbolic Reflection and Celebration Park on 3½ acres within Lejeune Memorial Gardens. The park’s focal point will be a magnificent 10-foot-high, bronze sculpture of an eagle, globe and anchor. Included in Phase I is the design and landscaping of this outdoor space with permanent walkways containing memorial bricks. Visitors will get a clear idea of the entire project’s scope and synergy. This progress has been made possible through the efforts of a dedicated board, a supportive community, and a legion of donors. When complete, it will provide the community a venue for ceremonial events as well as a quiet place to contemplate the deeds of Marines past and present. Phase II’s construction is a function of fund raising.

And Phase II is exactly where we need your help to get the $25 million to construct the building and fill the exhibit halls with the treasured artifacts and interactive displays. See the next section, "Your Museum", and all the many displays inside each one of the exhibit halls.
