Corps and Carolinas Gallery

Since World War II, the Marine Corps has depended on Carolina bases to develop its fighting forces. This gallery traces the evolution of these installations into the finest training and operational facilities in the world, and narrates the growing relationships between the bases and their surrounding communities. Also highlighted will be the stories of the many “firsts” that are associated with the Carolina installations, from the first Marine War Dogs to the first Wounded Warrior Battalion.

You will learn the stories and contributions of these communities and the units stationed there. You will explore how Carolina communities have changed over the years as bases have expanded and retracted along with the military needs of the country.
