Wounded Warrior Art Exhibition

The Museum of the Marine was proud to sponsor its first art exhibition for combat wounded men and women. The painful and very memorable experiences, as well as crippling wounds and life-long anxiety, they gain as young citizens often need both physical activities as well an artistic outlet. We were pleased to participate in facilitating part of that need. This year our artists were from Jacksonville/Camp Lejeune area. The exhibition ran from August 2 to August 28 at the Council for the Arts at 826 New Bridges Street, Jacksonville.

Participants needed to meet the following criteria:

  • Purple Heart, Wounded Warriors were eligible. A copy of the Purple Heart Certificate or a Combat Service Ribbon (CAR) must be included with the application.

  • PTSD and TBI Servicemen and Veterans were eligible as long as the participant had a CAR and verification that they were undergoing treatment.

  • The submitted work must have been created within the last two years.

Sponsor for the following prizes was generously given the Crist Women’s clinic.

  • Best in Show-$1,000

  • 1st Prize-$750

  • 2nd Prize-$500

  • 3rd Prize-$250

  • Numerous Honorable Mention Prizes
