Sergeant Major of the Museum, Joe Houle, keeps the fires of the 4th Marine Division Association Aliv

Since 2009 when Sergeants Major Joe Houle and Ihor Sywanyk traveled to Wisconsin to pick the accumulated memorabilia of the 4th Marine Division Association, Houle has attended every annual reunion held by the WW II association displaying their marvelous collection. In 2014, Association President Elmer Dapron asked Houle to coordinate the Association’s Final Muster at Camp Lejeune. Unhesitantly, Houle accepted the task and began coordinating the week’s activities with the principal players, specifically the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, the City of Jacksonville and the village of Swansboro. The event held during the first week in August was highly successful thanks to the work of hundreds of participants. The 4th Marine Division has given the Museum of the Marine their memorabilia, their colors, and the balance of their treasury--$19,900.
